The Eastern Cape features a diverse mix of landscapes, from the semi-arid Karoo interior to the lush valley bushveld and rolling hills of the coastal regions. Its variety of terrain, including valleys, grasslands, and riverine areas, makes it one of South Africa’s richest provinces for hunting, offering both plains and dangerous game.
Game species include Kudu, Impala, Blesbok, Springbok, and Warthog, with larger ranches providing opportunities to hunt Buffalo, Sable, Roan, and even occasionally Black and White Rhino. Color variants such as Copper Springbok, White Blesbok, and Golden Gemsbuck are present on select properties. Smaller antelope like Duiker and Steenbok are also common, while rocky escarpments offer habitat for Klipspringer.
Many farms maintain permanent blinds and mineral supplementation during dry periods, creating excellent conditions for bow hunting. The province’s mix of coastal plains, bushveld, and mountains allows hunters to experience a wide range of species within accessible distances, making the Eastern Cape a sought-after destination for both rifle and bow hunters seeking variety and challenge.
